You will be leaving Hilo early so check out at 8am and start driving to Kohala, the west side of The Big Island. There are many places that you can visit on your way to Kohala. Here are some of them:
Hilo Farmer's Market
The Hilo Farmers Market is a must-see experience when you are on the Big Island. Over 200 local farmers and crafters sell their produce, crafts, gift items and tropical flowers in a festive outdoor atmosphere that recalls back to the old "plantation" days of early Hilo.

Charlie's Big Island Candies
Got a sweet tooth? Charlie's Big Island Candies is the right place for you! They sell chocolates, candies but their most famous product is the award winning chocolate dipped macadamia shortbread cookies made from quality hawaiian grown macadamia nuts!

Island Edges Beads and Sig Zane Alohawear
Go shopping for cute hawaiian clothes and accessories!

Continue your drive for 1 hour and 30 minutes. By that time you should be in the Waipi'o Valley Area. Stop at The Fish and the Hog for lunch.

Then be in the Waipi'o Valley by 1pm for a 2.5 hour horseback riding tour of the Valley, an enchanting place that literally means "land of curving water.” An ethereal sense of Waipio's rich historic past emanates from this valley, completely still, except for the pounding of waves on the nearby black sand beach and working farmers carefully tending their taro patches.

The tour should end at 3pm so drive to Tex Drive-in for Hawaii's version of a donut, which they call Malasadas and typically eaten as merienda or an afternoon snack.

Then it's a 25min drive to Parker Ranch, a small town filled with lots of great shops and art galleries like the Gallery of Great Things and the Wishard Gallery.
You will be having dinner at "Merriman's Fish House", a restaurant that is famous for its Opakapaka (sweet pink snapper).

After dinner, just drive for one more hour and you should arrive at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel by 9pm, where you will be staying for 5 nights.
